An Unexpected Connection

I've been thinking about this quote a lot today.  Last night I talked to my Grandma over the phone for the first time since I've been here.  I always love talking to my Grandma, I always feel happy when I get off the phone with her and she always inspires me to experience everything and live everyday to the full.  

Last night she told me about my Grandpa's connection to Australia.  Sadly he passed away a year and a half ago but I've always admired his wanderlust and his renditions of his many adventures.  Throughout his life he lived in Malaysia, Canada, Nigeria, Turkey, Cyprus and Australia to name a few, I'm sure I'm missing at least one out!   I found out that he spend over two years in Richmond airbase close to Sydney and loved his time here.  Grandma emailed me the above quote taken from his book over to me today and it gave me a wonderful sense of connection to him.  My apartment has a very slight view of the harbor water and I cross the bridge every day for work.  There's nothing better than taking a run along the harbor shoreline and knowing that he also found this part of the world as beautiful as I did made my heart very happy.  

There's something wonderful in finding a connection that is shared with family and knowing that Grandpa enjoyed this place as much as I do gave me a little spring in my step this morning.  

So this post is dedicated to my wonderful late Grandpa and his adventures in Sydney and beyond.  I hope that my trip here will be as fulfilling as it seems his was.  And as always, this blog is dedicated to my family and friends who inspire me to travel and find adventure in all aspects of life.
